How to remove high traffic stains from carpet

December 18th, 2024 | Carpet

Removing high-traffic stains from carpets in both residential and commercial spaces is essential for several reasons.

Firstly, these stains can lead to significant fibre damage over time, as dirt and grime penetrate deep into the carpet, weakening the strands and causing premature wear. In commercial environments, this can result in costly replacements and reduced longevity of flooring investments.

Additionally, high-traffic areas can harbor harmful germs and microbes, posing health risks to employees and customers alike. Left untreated, these stains not only diminish the aesthetic appeal of the space but also contribute to unpleasant odors and an unhygienic environment. By promptly addressing high-traffic stains, you maintain the visual integrity of your carpets and promote a cleaner, healthier atmosphere for everyone.

Products

WET EXTRACTION – COLLOIDAL BOOST
Colloidal Boost is ideal for addressing high-traffic stains during the wet extraction process. Its advanced wetting agents and dynamic emulsification technology penetrate deep into carpet fibers, effectively breaking down and suspending oily soils for thorough rinsing. Safe for delicate materials, Colloidal Boost has a neutral pH and avoids harsh solvents.

ENCAPSULATION – ENCAP PLUS BOOSTED WITH PEROX
Adding Perox (Hydrogen Peroxide) to Encap Plus significantly enhances the removal of high-traffic stains. Its powerful oxidising properties effectively neutralise tough stains. Perox
ensures that both stains and odours are addressed, leaving no residues behind and eliminating the need for rinsing. Safe for colourfast fabrics and a variety of fibers, it offers a reliable solution for tackling stubborn high-traffic stains while protecting the integrity of your carpets.

The Process

Wet Extraction Process

  1. Mix Colloidal Boost Solution
Start by adding 15-30 ml of Colloidal Boost per litre of your ready-to-use prespray solution. This powerful blend will enhance the cleaning effectiveness, ensuring deep penetration into the carpet fibres.
  2. Apply To Carpet
Next, apply this solution to the affected area using standard techniques, making sure to cover the stains
    thoroughly for optimal results.
  3. Agitate Carpet
To further activate the cleaning power, agitate the area with a carpet rake or rotary scrubbing machine.
This step helps to loosen dirt and grime, allowing the solution to work its magic.
  4. Extract & Rinse
Finally, extract and rinse using wet extraction equipment with Extracta Pro at 1 g/L, or alternatively, Emulsifier Plus at 2 ml/L or Rinse Pro at 10 ml/L. This final rinse will remove any remaining residues, leaving carpets refreshed and revitalised.

ENCAPSULATION PROCESS

  1. Mix Perox with Encap Plus
Begin by adding 30 ml of Actichem Perox per litre of your ready-to-use Encap Plus solution. This powerful combination enhances stain-fighting capabilities, ensuring effective treatment of high-traffic areas.
  2. Apply to Carpet
Next, apply this specially formulated solution to the affected area using standard low moisture cleaning techniques. Make sure to cover the stains evenly for optimal penetration and effectiveness.
  3. Agitate Carpet
After application, agitate the area thoroughly to activate the cleaning agents, allowing them to work their magic on the stubborn stains.
  4. Allow to Dry & Crystallise
Once agitated, allow the area to air dry completely. This step is crucial as it enables the encapsulation process to take effect, trapping dirt and stains in a crystal-like structure for easy removal during future cleanings.

Further notes

  • Colloidal Boost
Colloidal Boost is compatible with all Actichem prespray products and is suitable for synthetic and wool fibres.
  • Enhance Encapsulation Method
For even better results, consider absorbing the dissolved soiling onto a dry carpet bonnet using a rotary scrubber. This technique not only enhances the cleaning process but also helps lift away any remaining dirt and residue, ensuring a deeper clean and a more polished finish. The combination of agitation and absorption will leave the carpet looking immaculate and revitalised, making a noticeable difference in high-traffic areas.
