Consolidator and water repellent for stone
Defender CSD 50 is a consolidator and water repellent for stone.
Actichem’s AP677 Defender CSD 50 is a proprietary impregnating sealer which consolidates friable material, strengthens the substrate and provides powerful water repellent properties. Although suited to a wide range of materials it is most popular with construction materials such as sandstone, limestone, clay and concrete. It reacts with the substrate material creating an extremely strong and durable bond which protects the substrate from structural weakening and erosion for many, many years.

Formulated to provide premium protection to porous construction materials and is ideally suited to the protection of heritage and delicate/friable/crumbling stone. Defender CSD is ideal for limestone, sandstone and concrete structures.
Expected Wear:
Defender CSD 50 will provide premium protection for up to 15 years and in many applications, several years longer. However application methods, weather conditions, traffic, harsh cleaning methods and substrate type will affect wear. Avoid use of solvents, strong acids and strong alkalis for extended sealer life.
It is recommended that the sealer be re-applied every 8 – 12 years where harsh conditions exist.
Considerations:
Not to be used as a sub-terrain waterproofing. Should not be applied if temperature is above 40 degrees or if rain is expected within 2 hours of application. If rain has preceded the application, the surface should be allowed 24 hours to dry completely.
Read and understand the SDS before use
Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for sensitivity to chemicals.
Coverage can vary dramatically depending on the degree of porosity, but is normally 5 to 10 m2 / Lt per coat for open structure, highly porous substrates. And 10 to 20 m2 / Lt per coat for dense, less porous substrates.
Note:
Application on large concrete areas should be based on a preset coverage rate using a dedicated sprayer or painting equipment. No subsequent removal of excess product is required.
Adhesive Compatibility:
When a tile is dip sealed prior to being installed, it will become highly water repellent. This means that a standard water based adhesive may not adhere to the surface. A suitable polymer modified grout should be used, which is designed to overcome the repellency of a penetrating sealer.
Compatible adhesives include:
1. Davco SE-7 (with Davelastic)
2. Mapie Granirapid
